CMJ Day One (Technically Day Two)
Arrived in NYC yesterday for the CMJ Music Marathon. Full details will be posted at Swizzle-Stick.com next week. But, just wanted to mention that we saw a great solo acoustic performance by Pete Krebs, an odd and disturbing performance by Shat, and an amazing and energetic performance by Skeleton Key.

Rock Poster Art Show
There is a cool rock poster art show taking place in Philadelphia in December. I never really cared about rock poster art until about 3 months ago. Now I'm trying to find posters to hang up in my office. There are some really great artists out there, including Swizzle-Stick's Chris Krolczyk.

So, as you can tell, I'm new at this. I can't figure out how to delete the posting for "Trick or Treat (Year 1)" that doesn't have photos. Sorry. And, I somehow managed to delete two posts so, here is a quick recap:

Page Hamilton, ex-leader of Helmet, has a new band called Gandhi. I've heard some demos that Hamilton recorded a year or two ago. I don't know if these songs are being used with Gandhi but they all sounded pretty good. Hamilton worked with Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails while NIN was recording their last CD and that influence is pretty apparent on a few of the demo tracks.

The Music has been tapped as opener for the forthcoming The Vines tour. Having heard The Music's debut CD, I can say most definitely that the singer sounds a LOT like Phil Lewis of the glam metal band L.A. Guns.

Trick or Treat (Year 1)
Tonight the girls will go out Trick or Treating with mommy for the first time. Olivia is excited to wear her "munny" costume. Abbey has no idea what is going on other than that mommy and daddy are making her wear a frog costume.

The Swedish Ryan Adams?
This guy, Nicolai Dunger, writes songs as often as Ryan Adams and/or Robert Pollard. I really just discovered his latest release, Tranquil Isolation so I can't speak about the rest of his music but I certainly plan on looking into it. His voice has been compared to Van Morrison's, but I'm not a Van Morrison fan so I don't know how accurate that is. I'm hoping to check out Nicolai at Tonic in New York on Thursday night as part of the CMJ Music Marathon.
